We are one body in union with Christ, and we are all joined to each other as different parts of one body. We are to use our different gifts in accordance with the grace that God has given us. If our gift is to speak God’s message, we should do it according to the faith that we have; if it is to serve, we should serve; if it is to teach, we should teach; if it is to encourage others, we should do so. ~Romans 12: 5-7~
A very common and casual way to answer our phone is “hello.” Imagine your complete surprise if God was on the other end of the line! What would be your response if He asked how you were using your talents? Would you say, “I don’t know what my talents are so I am not doing anything.” After a pause, God responds to your statement by saying that you need to find out what talents you might have because together you can do great things. Again, you push him off by saying that He did try helping you once but it just didn’t feel right. But, of course, God does not give up that easily and gently nudges you to explore other options. Everyone has something they can contribute to others. He encourages you to keep trying because with His help, you can accomplish so much.
With this thought in mind, please take the opportunity to look at our new St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Ministry Booklet which outlines so many ways in which you can lend a helping hand. In the worship ministry alone you could be a greeter, usher, altar server, lector, sacristan or Eucharistic minister. There are also needs in the areas of hospitality or decorating for the church. There are many ways both big and small to enhance our brothers’ and sisters’ worship experience at Mass and to ultimately feel God’s love through us.
If none of these appeal to you, there are many other committees that might be of interest and could utilize your gifts.
