In God We Trust

April 20, 2017 by Pastoral Staff

The phrase “In God We Trust” is printed on all our United States currency. Do we really believe that in our hearts?

In Matthew Kelly’s book Resisting Happiness this is what he had to say about trust.

The one thing God needs from you is for you to make yourself available to Him and incredible things will happen. How available are you to God at this time in your life? Twenty percent, 50 percent, 75 percent, 96.4 percent? We hold back from God because we want to be in control. We are not in control and we never will be. Why do we resist God? Because deep down we don’t trust him. Why do we cast God and his ways aside? Because deep down we think that God is trying to limit our freedom. Beg him to give you the wisdom, grace, and humility to make yourself 100 percent available to him.

Let not the only thing in ours lives written with the words “In God We Trust” be our money but let it be written in our minds, on our lips, and in our hearts.

Matthew Kelly’s Prayer

Loving Father,

I come to you today to make myself 100 percent available to you.

I lay everything I have and everything I am at your feet.

Take what you want to take, and give what you want to give.

Command me in all things.

I will do whatever you ask me to do.

Transform me and transform my life, so that I may become the best version of myself
and lead others to you with my life and my love!

Amen
